NEWSPAPER OBITS
Peyton S. Faddis, one of the most energetic and public spirited citizens of Audrain, died at his home north of Centralia, Tuesday, February 16, 1897, of pneumonia. Mr. Faddis was only sick for a brief period. Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at 2 o’clock under the auspices of the Masonic Lodge. (The Intelligencer, Feb. 18, 1897 p1 c1)

…He was 43 years of age. He leaves a wife and four children, three boys and one girl, ranging in age from 19 years to six. His remains were interred at the family burying ground on his farm. Mr. Faddis was born on the farm where he died, a few months over forty-two years of age. In early life, he married the wife he leaves behind, Miss Susie Day.
