Audrain County Cemeteries

Mount Olivet Presbyterian Cemetery
SE 1/4 of the SE 1/4  of Sec 18, R51N,  R5W of Cuivre Township about 10 mi.
south of Vandalia on Hwy W.

The first congregation of Mt. Olivet United Presbyterian Church met for worship at a log schoolhouse near Barneyville and in 1845 drew up a  constitution forming a church under the care of Salt River Presbytery. In 1870 Conrad Enslen donated the ground on which a church building was erected and the present building replaced it in 1907. On record in the Audrain County Courthouse is a copy of the land deed of Conrad Enslen and his wife, Mary Enslen , conveying 1 ¼ acres for the purpose of erecting a church under the control of the Mt. Olivet Congregation of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
